It was like a dream, when the silver key floated from the sky and landed on his back. The clicking noise that came with the key's twisting seemed to energise and rejuvenate the Rattata who had been attached to it. It had been too long since he had last been used, so long that he could not remember what had happened before. All he could remember was a blackness, a nothingness. Maybe it was because he was a toy, but he was still living and breathing. He had the key to thank for that.

The Rattata looked around the strange field that was in front of him, feeling a strange sense of deja vu. A gap in the gate? Oh how spiffing! The Rattata almost leaped with joy at the sight of the red gate in front of him, slightly left open by one of the more stronger pokemon. He was strong enough, the key had chosen him after all. The key of life...the one that chooses who lives and who stays in the blackness forever. Through the gate the Rattata popped, and he entered a place in which he had never seen before, but still had a sense of deja vu to it.

Pokemon to the left of him, pokemon to the right. The Rattata could have burst with excitement, scratching at the Caterpie in front of him till it finally fell. Energy rushed through the pokemon as he moved on to a Paras that was attacking a Pikachu with a spore attack, but he didn't notice the pink puffball Jigglypuff throw a sing attack his way. Down the purple pokemon went, falling to the ground with a dramatic thump. Rattata had failed the Battle royale.

But it didn't matter to the Rattata. Sure, the gate had been closed. But that meant he could get stronger training against other pokemon toys. He seemed to forget the fact that such toys as him didn't grow. Through the Forest he marched, scratching Caterpie until they fell like the one in the Battle royale. Through the thick trees he marched, keeping to the brown, muddy path all of these pokemon seemed to be hanging out on. Soon enough, he ran into a Pikachu. Something rang a bell about this Pikachu, something made him feel strange. Wary. The Rattata attacked regardless, and soon Pikachu fell to the ground. But what's this? Instead of disappearing into a red smoke, the Pikachu lay on the ground. It seemed like such a bad idea in his gut, but the Rattata moved towards the Pikachu and picked him up.

The key responded to this in a way that the Rattata would never had guessed. The key removed itself from Rattata, all the life draining out of the pokemon in a heartbeat. Down Rattata fell, as the key would now give life to the small Pikachu that had been reqruited. The Rattata wondered what he had done wrong. Had his loss of the battle royale caused the key to be angry at him? Maybe the loss had upset the key more than Rattata thought? Nothing made sense anymore. Rattata would have cried tears if he could, as the darkness soon surrounded him once again. He hoped that one day, he will be used again.
Pokemon rumble fanfic

HOW COULD YOU QUICKLY AND SO EASILY REPACE RATTATA! YOU HORRIBLE HEARTLESS BASTARDS! LOOK WHAT HE DID FOR YOU, HE GOT YOU A PIKACHU.

Lol.

Rattata is your first pokemon, and he is the weakest. In most pokemon games, you are encouraged to start with your starter, but in this one you throw him away as soon as you get Pikachu. Or someone else, IDK.
